Colorado State University

It’s that time…the cutting of the grasses. A couple of weeks ago, between snowstorms, I was able to trim the ornamental grasses in the trial. My inspiration was watching David Staats, CSU Horticulture Research Associate, trim the grasses in the ornamental grass section of CSU’s perennial garden:

My task looked relatively easy by comparison. Here’s the before shot of the ornamental grass trial plots:

before 3.7.13

…and here’s the after:

after 3.7.13

A relatively easy 2 hours of work…and  my sore back is a reminder that it’s been awhile since I’ve been working in the grass plots! I cut back all the grasses to about 4″ in height.
